A 2021 article in The Conversation by June Sekera and Neva Goodwin is must-reading about carbon capture and storage (CCS), the much-hyped “solution” to the excess CO2 that (along with methane) is the cause of global warming. In this discussion the authors provide the important facts the public rarely gets.

Is carbon capture and storage a viable solution to the climate change crisis? How much CO2 can this technology actually extract from the atmosphere? Given the limitations of CCS, why is the taxpayer subsidizing these projects. CCS sustains the fossil fuels industry when renewable energy is available, much less expensive and definitely the real solution to the climate change crisis.
