Meet David Hibbett, Ph.D.

Hibbett Lab
David Hibbett, Ph.D., Professor of Biology, Clark University. Dr. Hibbett is an evolutionary biologist specializing in the study of fungi (mycology). Hibbett Lab
Dr. Hibbett is a past president of the Mycological Society of America, which named him a 2008 MSA Fellow and awarded him its 2000 Alexopoulos Prize.

Dr. Hibbett appeared on SftPublic's Contemporary Science Issues and Innovations on October 05, 2017 to discuss Mushrooms and Other Fungi: Their Role in Nature. The contribution of fungi to maintaining many ecosystems is surprising to most of us, since there is very little media attention given to the field of mycology. This year, as a Grass Fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Research, Dr. Hibbett is writing a book on mushrooms for the general public --and that should help to raise public knowledge and appreciation. In the video above of the 10/05/17 interview, Dr. Hibbett provides information about mycology clubs for the public and the excitement of field explorations. The links for these groups are provided in the video.
