Dudley Foster retired from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in 2012. His long and legendary career at WHOI spanned the several crucial decades of the famous deep-sea submersible, the Alvin. Mr. Foster was deeply involved in Alvin's development and modifications. He piloted more than 500 Alvin dives, and was part of the teams that explored the remains of the sunken Lusitania, the discovery of the deep-sea hydrovents with their unexpected organisms, and many other marine science due to the capabilities of the Alvin manned submersible. Dudley Foster recorded this SftPublic mini-documentary at the Belmont Media Center studio in August 2015: The Alvin Deep-Sea Submersible: An Engineer's Story
