The Battle for the Future of Food
Science for the Public: Contemporary Science Issues & Innovations
June 11, 2024 WGBH Forum Network webinar
Timothy A. Wise, Senior Advisor at the Institute for Agriculture & Trade Policy (IATP); and Senior Research Fellow at Tufts University’s Global Development and Environment Institute.
Researcher, author and activist Timothy A. Wise explains why industrial agriculture (Big Ag) is more a threat to the planet and humanity than a solution to hunger. Based on his book Eating Tomorrow: Agribusiness, Family Farmers, and the Battle for the Future of Food, he steps through numerous issues associated with corporate agriculture, including GMOs, toxins and excess fertilizers. He also describes non-corporate farming strategies that will feed the entire planet and help to restore global environment, economies and health.
