Meet Lukas Meier, Ph.D.

Lukas Meier, Ph.D. Fellow-in-Residence at the Edmond & Lily Safra Harvard Center for Ethics.

Dr. Meier appeared on Science for the Public's Contemporary Science Issues & Innovations program May 20, 2025 to discuss The Brain-Computer-Interface Paradox. The BCI innovation offers paralyzed or speechless individuals the ability to control motion and/or communication by the affect individual's mental action alone. However, BCI devices might also be used for more problematic purposes, such as mind-control by military or political agencies. Dr. Meier's expertise in ethical issues related to BCIs is vitally important today.
