Meet Kristen DeAngelis, Ph.D.

Kristen DeAngelis, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Microbiology, University of Massachusetts-Amherst. the DeAngelis Lab

Kristen DeAngelis studies the microbial role in soil ecosystems, most importantly the effect of microbe function at different scales. Her work is especially important in climate change research, as soil health is altered by warming and other climate change factors.

Dr. DeAngelis appeared on Science for the Public's Contemporary Science Issues and Innovations program on May 10, 2021, where she discussed Living Dirt: Soil’s Microbe Ecosystems. She included in her discussion the role of soil in the health of the planet and also the ways in which climate warming is impacting the microbe ecosystems which sustain the soil.
